With over 20 years of experience teaching piano to adults, I offer relaxed, personalised lessons designed around each student's interests, abilities and goals.
I've been playing piano for over 40 years and have worked as a performer, composer, recording artist and professional musician alongside my teaching.
My Musical Background
BA (Hons) in Creative & Expressive Therapies
University of Derby, including study towards becoming a music therapist.
ABRSM Grade 7 Piano with Distinction
Classically trained from childhood, with a strong foundation in piano technique and performance.
ABRSM Grade 5 Music Theory
A solid grounding in music theory, supporting both performance and teaching.
Professional Musical Experience
Recording & Session Work
Professional session musician with recording credits alongside established artists including Terri Walker, Liam Bailey and B. Stille of Nappy Roots (1st Blood Empire).
Music Direction & Theatre
Worked as Music Director at Leicester Haymarket Theatre, combining performance, musicianship and musical direction.
Splendour & Live Music
Held a piano residency at Nottingham's Splendour music festival for over five years, performing acoustic piano in the VIP area, as well as performing at functions and music festivals nationwide.
Live Performance
Performed live with The South, formed by members of The Beautiful South, as well as performing extensively as a solo pianist and band member.
Original Music & Recording
More than 30 commercial releases, alongside over 20 independently produced original solo and band recordings. I also compose original solo piano repertoire, including a series of pieces written to provide enjoyable, progressively challenging music for pianists at different stages of their development.
